Whether you are looking for a new home to buy or planning on renting, you want to make sure you don't end up regretting the decision shortly down the road. If you move into a house with what you consider to be horrible neighbors, then you can find you quickly end up regretting your decision. When you go to check out a home, it can be hard to know that you may be ending up with neighbors you won't be happy with unless you have a better idea of what you should look for. Here are some things you can keep an eye out for that will indicate to you that the neighbors may not be the type you would hope for:

You notice a lot of traffic coming and going

While you want to be open minded and realize that the neighbors may simply be enjoying a celebration, you also don't want to be naïve. If you notice a lot of people coming and going while you are checking out a house, pay attention to a few things. If they seem to only be in the house a few minutes, they choose to park down the street a bit, they all tend to look undesirable or a bit paranoid, then you may find that you are living near drug dealers.

You notice someone is running a daycare or there is a school very close

While some people are perfectly fine with living right near a daycare or school, others may not like it so much. If you don't have small children and you are nearing retirement age, you work from home and need it to be very quiet or you have other reasons for not wanting to live where you will hear a lot of children at play, then living near a daycare or school may not be the right fit.

You notice one of the close neighbors has many loud vehicles

If you notice that one of the neighbors has loud muscle cars, Harley motorcycles and an array of other loud vehicles then you may want to proceed with caution. However, there is the chance that you would be missing out on a great house for no reason if you automatically assumed this is going to be a problem and it turns out they only start them up once in a while. The best thing you can do is try to talk to one or more of the other neighbors and directly ask them about the noise coming from that house.
